Gok cattle raid leaves three dead

At least three people were killed and four others wounded in two separate incidents related to cattle rustling in Abiriu County in Gok State over the weekend, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Gok State Minister of Local government and Law Enforcement Agency, Isaac Mayom Malek, said the two attacks were carried out by cattle raiders from Western Lakes State on Saturday.

“Two things happened in Gok State. On the 18th of this Month, there was a cattle raid carried by local youth from the Pakam clan from Western Lakes on Abiriu County of Gok State, and they killed two people and took 700 heads of cattle,”he said.

“On Tuesday, we received information from Abiriu County Commissioner that a man from Eastern Lake was killed by unknown gunman in Abiriu County and authorities are yet to find out the people behind the incident,” he added.

The official further said the victim was killed when he was going to Eastern Lakes with his cows. He added that he was killed and his cows were taken by suspected cattle raiders from Abiriu.

The dead body was flown to Eastern Lakes state on the same day, according to the official.
