Gok assembly approves taxation bill

Ten Members passed the proposed 2016 Taxation Act during the final reading.

John Aremic Manga, Chairperson for the specialized committee of Information in the Assembly, told Radio Tamazuj that the Parliament has passed the Proposed Taxation Bills into Law.

The proposed Bill was earlier presented to the parliament by the State Minister of Finance and Public Service, Daniel Chol Koknyin.  Aremic added that each tax payer should pay 1000 SSP for a period of three years and it will be effective after the State Governor, Madhang Majok Meen signed it into law.  The Director of Gok state Radio, Mathew Chol Monydhel, who was attended the sitting, said, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Madam Veronica Philip Dak, congratulated Members of parliament for passing the long awaited bill.

She wishes members for a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year. A local resident in Cueibet town who asked not to be named told Radio Tamazuj said 1000 SSP is a big money that a common man cannot afford. He added that he will take the issue to the state Governor so that he will not sign the Bill into Law. Following the creation of 28 states in the Republic of South Sudan,  President Salva Kiir  Mayardit on 4th of April 2016,  issued a Republican Decree No.145/2016 A.D, appointing (21) Members of Gok State Legislative Assembly.
