Gogrial, Twic states agree on modalities for peaceful coexistence

The governors of Gogrial and Twic states have resolved to form a seven-member committee within a week to peacefully settle cross-border cattle raid cases after a two-day meeting in Kuacjok over the weekend.

The two leaders also agreed to form a joint police force to station at Ayien Amoul to create a buffer zone along the bordering counties of the two states and establish a joint court to investigate and try suspects.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Twic governor Kon Manyiel Kuol asked the county commissioners and traditional leaders from both sides to be instrumental in the provision of a conducive environment and provide information needed by the committee to satisfactorily complete their work.

For his part, the governor of Gogrial state Gregory Deng Kuac said the resolutions will definitely help bring an end to cattle thefts and other community grievances in the neighbouring counties.
