Gogrial state residents warned not to loiter during harvest season

Those found loitering or playing dominos in the Kuajok market during the harvest period will be arrested, according to authorities in Gogrial state.

Locations where dominos are played will only open after 5 PM until the harvest period is over, the officials said.

“I want everyone to go for cultivation," said Abraham Gum, the Governor of Gogrial State. "Those who will not cultivate but (are) found loitering in the market -- police will arrest them and they will be taken to (the) government farm to work there,”

Daniel Anyuon Chan, the County Commissioner of Apuk East County, confirmed the new rules Radio Tamazuj.

"If anyone attempts to move in the market in the time people are cultivating, (they) will be arrested, and then tomorrow (they) will be escorted to the government farm to cultivate for a week thereafter, said Anyuon.

One resident, Francis Deng Agany, questioned the criteria the government will use to identify those who loiter.

“Is this not going to affect even people who will be coming to the market with purpose to make shopping he question? I don’t have any problem with those who will be caught up playing dominos because they will be found doing the action” said Deng.
