Security authorities in South Sudan’s Gogrial State have assured residents of tight security during the New Year celebration.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj this afternoon, Major-General John Baak Alphonse, the state police commissioner said they have taken security measures to ensure the safety of the celebrators.
The state police boss said the police will keep vigil in all residential areas, markets and churches to ensure the residents enjoy the New Year celebration in peace.
“The police have secured the churches, markets and public institutions. Also, citizens conducted prayers peacefully during Christmas celebrations,” he said.
According to the senior police officer, they had recorded minor traffic accidents during Christmas celebrations.
