The state ministry of health in Gogrial State has begun to distribute six months’ of drugs supplies to all hospitals and primary health centres in all counties before rainy season approaches.
Solomon Angui Mayuot, the newly appointed minister of health, says the move is to avoid the challenges of inaccessibility to clinics and hospitals during the rainy season.
“We are sending out the drugs now so that we can avoid challenges of inaccessibility of some health facilities when it rains,” he said. “When rains fall some roads are cut off which causes some facilities not to be reached and this is the reason.”
The minister also has acknowledged that during his visit to all health facilities across the state, he found some clinics lack nurses and medical directors saying that his ministry is now working hard to recruit and send health workers as soon as possible.
He urged the general public to accept responsibility for taking their sick people to the nearest hospital without delays and also encouraged everyone to practice proper hygiene and sanitation in their residential areas as the first step in preventing diseases.
