Gen. Gregory Deng Kuac, the newly appointed governor of South Sudan’s Gogrial State, has issued a decision reducing household taxes from 500 SSP to 100 SSP per household.

Gen. Gregory Deng Kuac, the newly appointed governor of South Sudan’s Gogrial State, has issued a decision reducing household taxes from 500 SSP to 100 SSP per household.

In June last year, the former state governor, Abraham Gum Makuac, increased the household taxes despite public outcry in the state.

According to an announcement made over the local media last week, the state official said the decision was a response to citizens’ complaints that they couldn’t afford to pay 500 SSP due to the country’s economic crisis.

Governor Deng directed all tax collectors to begin their work in the state, while warning that any cases of misappropriation of funds will be investigated thoroughly.
