Gogrial governor plans to build Ajiep Bridge

The governor of Gogrial State has announced a plan to build the Ajiep Bridge with the purpose of connecting citizens of Gogrial East,Tonj States and Kuajok town.

Governor Abraham Gum Makuac announced the plan upon his return from his home area of Apuk in Gogrial East where he attended Christmas celeberations. He said that the work will begin in 2017 without giving more details about the matter.

Valentino Riny Madut,  a resident of Luony Aker  area, welcomed the govenment plan to construct the bridge. However, he expressed skepticism about its implementation, saying it is not the first time for him to hear about such promises.

"We are tired of hearing promises to build the Ajiep Bridge simply because it was said many many times without doing it," he said. "Governor Akech Tong Aleu has said it at the time when he was appointed in 2015, but even one inch has not been initiated, so to me,  I think this news will be the same," he aded.

Citizens traveling between Kuajok town, Apuk and Tonj used to go through Wau town to reach their difference destinations.

The new bridge if constructed, will connect Kuajok to Luony Aker and Tonj and will boost trade between counties of Apuk  as well as citizens of Tonj State.
