Governor of Gogrial state Abraham Gum Makuac has met with his counterpart of Wau State Elias Waya Nyibuoc and discussed ways to bring to an end fighting and tensions going on in the Wau area.
Gum informed congregants at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kuajok on Sunday that the two governors resolved in a meeting on Friday last week to plan for a Bahr El Ghazal regional conference “where the root cause of the conflict in Wau will be addressed,” Gum explained.
“I want to inform you that, I went to Wau and talked with Governor Elias Waya concerning our people dying in Wau and have a nice discussions and the governor has promised me that there will be going a meeting for the greater Bahr El Ghazal region governors to discuss the conflict going on in his state.”
Gum added that he has also met with Warrap community members living in Wau and urged them to live peacefully with the different tribes in Wau.
“After I finished meeting with Elias Waya then I called another meeting with community of Warrap in Wau and I asked them not to get involved in this conflict continuing in Wau and they have assured me that they won’t,” Gum explained.
Wau Governor Elias Waya was not available for comment.
