The governor of Gogrial state has welcomed President Kiir’s Salva to reconcile and unite the fragmented SPLM factions in the country, saying the reunification process would reconcile the people of South Sudan.

Governor Gregory Deng Kuac told Radio Tamazuj in an interview on Friday that the people of South Sudan want to return to the country. “The initiative of President Salva Kiir in his capacity as the chairman of the SPLM is a step in the right direction,” he said.

“Our people all across the country want this war to stop and to stop the war it requires the SPLM leadership where the problem started to resolve their differences amicably,” he added.

The party fractured in December 2013, leading to the ongoing civil war that has killed thousands and forced a large number of people to seek refugees in neighbouring countries.
