The governor of Gogrial state, one of South Sudan’s newly created states, has disowned social media accounts opened in his name.
Governor Gregory Deng Kuac said in a public notice on Wednesday that social media accounts have been created in his name, adding the fake accounts have been used to solicit assistance from people who know him.
Gregory cautioned members of the public when dealing with people using his name on social media. “This is to alert the general public to be awareness about impersonators who are begging people using my names. I always post on Facebook to you all my friends and relatives on social media, please avoid chatting with such criminals on social media,” he said.
“I mean don't accept to give any financial assistance to those impersonators who are using identifications of other people for their personal gain of economic assistance and popularity,” he added.
