The governor of South Sudan’s Gogrial state has appointed a new government chief whip in parliament.

The governor of South Sudan’s Gogrial state has appointed a new government chief whip in parliament.

The Chief Whip is a political office whose task is to administer the whipping system that tries to ensure that members of the party attend and vote as the party leadership desires.

Governor Victor Atem Atem, according to the order which became public on Thursday, appointed Dhieu Bol Dhieu as the new chief whip in the state parliament.

Dhieu is first official to occupy the post since the creation of Gogrial State by President Salva Kiir.
