Gogrial governor Gregory Deng Kuac told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that he and a group of traditional leaders are in Yei in response to an invitation from religious leaders to end the ongoing conflict between Aguok and Apuk communities in Gogrial through amicable solutions after identifying the root causes as community members.

The top state official explained that the meeting was an extension of a similar gathering held in Juba on 7 July. “You know we are all trying with the religious leaders and friends to end the communal conflict in Gogrial state. It is a conflict which has been there for a very long time but now we want to find a lasting solution to it,” he said.

A discussion started in juba last month but people felt it wise to hold it in a quieter place and Yei was chosen by the elders. We know there are also issues in Yei but they are getting resolved,” he added.

He pointed out that they wanted to share experiences with the people of Yei and their government.
