Gogrial deputy secretary general quits assignment

Mayik Deng Madut, deputy secretary general in Gogrial state government has stepped down from his position less than six months following his appointment.

Mayik cited personal reason as the cause. But sources within the state parliament and the office of the governor and his deputy have provided different accounts justifying the cause.

An official from the office of the governor when asked on Wednesday to explain what he knows about the reason behind the resignation of the deputy secretary explained, “Mayik decided to resign because he did not comply with the directive of the council of ministers in which he served.”

“The council of ministers, if you can recall, passed a resolution this year banning the consumption of alcohol in Kuacjok town. This order has been complied with by the local population but some officials failed to comply, even when they are repeatedly approached and advised to be an example to the rest of the population.”

“Because of the behaviour of some these officials, the governor was constantly approached by the elders and other prominent community leaders were asking how come some of his officials are not showing an example and deputy secretary general Mayik Deng was repeatedly cited,” said the official.

Mayik responded to such allegations suggesting that his political enemies had laid a trap for him. “As for my enemies whose trap failed to put me deep to the grave alive while watching in a broad day light, I am so grateful. I have nothing to regret after my service.”

“The joy and pride for our state still remain paramount. Together we shall build prosperous Gogrial state where baseless lies are considered works of evil,” the ousted official stated.
