One girl has died after heavy rains collapsed her house in Tonj North County in South Sudan’s Warrap state recently.

Tonj North Information Officer Santino Deng told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that about three schools, several houses and numerous shops collapsed from the storms, resulting in the death of one girl.

He further said citizens incurred losses and education was halted in the county.

Deng pointed out that the affected people are living in open areas without food and shelter after they moved to higher ground.

He called on the state government and humanitarian organizations to provide aid assistance to the needy people.
