A final peace and reconciliation conference between the Ghulfan and Dar El Naila clans of the Hawazma nomadic Arab tribe in South Kordofan, Sudan will convene on 27 August.

Ghulfan Emir Fadul Habila Abu Hamra said that necessary preparations are in place for the meeting and that the security situation is calm.

Local authorities have been pressuring the two clans in Dilling and Habila localities to respect a recently signed truce to pave the way for peace and tranquility after a deadly dispute over a grazing site killed dozens.

Abu Hamra said that a peace committee comprising emirs and native administration leaders of the Ghulfan and Dar El Naila tribes was scheduled to take place on 15 August but was postponed due to preparations for this year’s planting season.
