South Sudan’s Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare Aya Benjamin Warille on Tuesday visited Yambio of Western Equatoria State to meet with the displaced communities from Tambura County.

Tambura County has experienced violent clashes in recent months, displacing thousands of people.

“We are paying a visit to Yambio, and the main objective is to meet the women of this area especially those affected by the crisis in Tambura, and to see the way of bringing them together to mend this relationship,” Minister Aya said.

She added that they are planning a women’s conference to discuss women’s challenges in the region.

“Secondly, we are coming to visit a number of places that we missed last time including the prison and some women centers,” she noted.

Meanwhile, state Governor Alfred Futuyo appreciated the minister’s visit and assured her of her safety during her stay there.

“In the New Year we have the national minister of gender visiting us, we are happy as state government. We welcome her and the work she comes for as she said, let her do her work in peace till she returns in peace,” Governor Futuyo said. “The way is opened for her to meet all those women, for us we need only peace.”
