FVP to travel to New York for UN general assembly in September

South Sudan’s First Vice President Taban Deng Gai is scheduled to travel to New York in September to attend the 72nd regular session of the United Nations General Assembly, the government announced on Thursday.

South Sudan’s First Vice President Taban Deng Gai is scheduled to travel to New York in September to attend the 72nd regular session of the United Nations General Assembly, the government announced on Thursday.

Ambassador Gordon Buay, a senior official at the South Sudanese embassy in Washington, DC, told Radio Tamazuj today that the First Vice President Taban Deng will lead a government delegation to attend the UN General Assembly in September.

For his part, the Spokesperson in the Office of the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai, Choul Laam also said Gai is expected to travel to New York to attend the UN General Assembly.

The 72nd regular session of the UN General Assembly will convene at UN Headquarters on Tuesday, 12 September 2017.

The General Assembly will focus on the theme, ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.
