The Governor of Aweil State Ronald Ruai Deng has formed his new government comprising advisors, ministers, commissioners, the commissioner general for Aweil State Revenue Authority, and town mayor plus two deputies for the town mayor.
Aweil State is one of 28 states created by President Salva Kiir by decree but challenged as unconstitutional by a coalition of opposition parties.
Monitors of the peace agreement have called the creation of the 28 states a “violation” of the peace agreement. Salva Kiir says the 28 states are the demand of the people.
The following is the list of the new appointees in Aweil State:
New Advisors:
1. Stephen Ayaga Azubeir, Political Affairs Advisor
2. Jel Mangok Yel, Advisor for Security Affairs
3. Isaac Makau Ayok, Advisor for Peace and Reconciliation
New Ministers:
1. Ajak Michael Akok, Minister of Local Government, and Law Enforcement Agencies.
2. James Wieu Mayuol, Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports
3. Garang Majak Bol, Minister of Finance and public Service
4. Teresa Awein Mawein, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry
5. Akol Wol Mawein, Minister of Physical Infrastructure
6. VACANT, awaiting SPLM-IO appointee, Minister of Education, Gender and Social Welfare
7. Terezina Athou Lueth, Minister of Health and Environment
Appointment of Mayor and Deputies:
1. Andrea Lual Buola, Aweil Town Mayor
2. Zacharia Mayuol Deng, Deputy Mayor for Administration and Finance
3. Diera Madut Chan, Deputy Mayor for Town Planning
Commissioner General for State Revenue
Akol Ayom Wek, the Commissioner General for Aweil State Revenue Authority
County Commissioners:
1. William Ajonga Deng, Aweil Center County Commissioner
2. Deng Deng Amuoi, Aweil South County Commissioner
The above list of officials were sworn in on Friday last week and started their duties on Monday.
Meanwhile, the governor announced his commitment work with SPLM-IO members who will be sent soon to the state.
“This cabinet and I are ready to work together with SPLM-IO members to implement the Peace Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan,” said Governor Ronald Ruai.
