Motorcycle riders also known as ‘boda-boda riders’ in South Sudan’s Maridi State are complaining of the constant increase in the price of fuel in the town.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, Simple Wilson, a boda-boda rider said the increasing fuel price is due to a shortage of fuel for over a month in the area.
Wilson said they are now forced to buy from the black market at 500 to 600 South Sudanese Pounds per liter. He added that many riders have abandoned the trade that earns their daily bread because customers are not able to use their services due to high prices.
He called on the state government to intervene to help avail affordable fuel for the boda-boda riders who depend on this trade.
The state chamber of commerce declined to comment on the matter.
