A three day fuel shortage has disrupted public transport and business in South Sudan’s capital Juba, with drivers calling on authorities to supply fuel stations with diesel and petrol.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, citizens said 20 litres of petrol is now sold at 8,000 SSP, saying the prices go up daily due to fuel shortages at petrol station in Juba city.

Eyewitnesses said the streets of Juba were empty on Thursday with a few vehicles moving and people crowding bus stations to jump on the few available public vehicles, while majority of the people were walking on foot.

The head of the energy committee in South Sudan’s national parliament, David Nailo, told reporters in Juba that they plan to summon the Minister of Petroleum to explain the fuel shortage in main petrol stations.
