Fresh displacements in eastern Upper Nile

More people have been displaced as a result of South Sudan’s continuing crisis following fighting about a week ago in eastern Upper Nile State, with fresh arrivals reported in rebel-controlled areas.

More people have been displaced as a result of South Sudan’s continuing crisis following fighting about a week ago in eastern Upper Nile State, with fresh arrivals reported in rebel-controlled areas.

“In Upper Nile State heavy fighting was also reported in Gul-Guk bordering Longochuk County. In Longochuk County, there were reports of local populations fleeing the area towards the border with Ethiopia,” reads a UN humanitarian report released today.

The report by the UN humanitarian agency OCHA says the people have fled from Gul-Guk, Pelgak, Udier and Benashowa following fighting in Gul-Guk on 15 March.
