At least four people were killed in an attack on a commercial vehicle carrying passengers along the Juba-Mangala road on Sunday, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Illario Paul, Mangala County Commissioner, said a vehicle carrying 14 passengers including nine women was attacked by gunmen in Bilinyang area along the Juba-Mangala road on Sunday.
He pointed out that the incident resulted in the killing of at least four men. “In Bilinyang area, four men were found dead there, I was called and we went to visit the scene. They were shot and killed, and parts of their bodies were cut with panga,” he said.
The local official noted that the dead bodies were taken to mortuary at the Juba Teaching Hospital.
Paul further said the attackers allowed the driver and the nine women to go, but their belongings were robbed. He revealed that SPLA soldiers managed to arrest five people suspected of involvement in incident, saying investigations are underway.
