Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the killing of a woman in Kupera County of Yei River State, a local official said.
Rose Dusman was reported killed by unknown gunmen inside her house in Dongoro village last week.
Speaking to reporters in Yei town on Friday, the state information minister, Moses Mawa said the suspects would face justice.
“We had an incident that happened in Kupera where a woman was killed, but I am glad to inform you that four suspects have been arrested by the security in Kupera,” said Mawa.
Separately, the minister said the general security situation in the state was calm.
“The security situation is calm, normal and stable all over the state. The government of Yei River State has done a very good job and we want to thank the security organs for doing their best in ensuring stability. Because of stable security, a lot of things have happened. When you go to Lasu, Tore, Morobo and Kaya, all roads have reopened because of the good work by security organs,” said Mawa.
He added, “Now, you can travel from Yei alone to Morobo, Kaya and you proceed. Every day, people travel to Mugo where many markets have reopened. In Lasu, many markets have also reopened.”
Radio Tamazuj could not independently verify state government's claims.
One of the areas badly affected by civil war, Yei River state has witnessed human rights violations and massive displacement since 2016.
