At least four people were killed in intercommunal clashes between the Jurbel and Ayiel communities in Lakes State last Friday, a local official said.
Zechariah Mamer Thokgor, the Executive Director of Cueibet County, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the retaliatory attacks occurred between members of the Ayiel section of Gok Dinka and Beli communities in Ngap payam.
"The revenge attacks started when a person from the Ayiel section killed two people from the Beli community. The total number of people killed in the revenge cycle are four,” he said.
He added, "We have three communities in Ngap payam, which includes Beli, Bongo and Dinka Ayiel section of Gok community.”
According to the local official, no one was wounded in the attack.
He, however, said the security situation returned to normal despite the incident.
According to previous reports, the routine of intercommunal clashes in many parts of the country prevails due to lack of an efficient justice system.
