Four killed during cattle raid in Twic County

At least four people were confirmed killed in Warrap State’s Twic County by the cattle raiders suspected to have come from neighboring Unity State’s Mayom County on Friday night.

John Mabior Maru, the acting commissioner of Twic County, told Radio Tamzaju on Saturday morning that the deceased, two male youths and two male minors, were killed by the assailants in Akuach village of Ayien Amuol Boma in Turalei Payam.

“The armed Youth, believed to have come from Mayom County, raided a good number of cattle from Twic County yesterday (Friday). During the incident, four people lost their lives among the cattle keepers,” he said. “The cattle owners from Twic County pursued the raiders and are still fighting in the Bulthii area of Ayien Amuol, and the situation in the area is risky.”

“I informed the commissioner of Mayom that there are armed youth from his county who came and raided the cattle from our side,” Commissioner Mabior added.

He appealed to the authorities in Unity State to recover the pillaged cattle from the criminals and return them to the owners.

Meanwhile, Mayom County Commissioner James Liyliy Kuol confirmed that he had been informed by his Twic County counterpart about the attack and cattle theft.

“Yes, I was informed by the acting commissioner of Twic County that armed youth went and raided cattle and killed four cattle keepers there,” he said. “The criminals who went and raided the cattle from Twic County are not residents of Mayom County and come from different places in Unity State.”

“Security personnel have been deployed along our border with Warrap State to recover those cattle from the criminals,” Commissioner Liyliy added.
