At least four people were killed in intercommunal clashes between Kuacdit and Kuacthii of Yirol East county of Lakes State last Friday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the secretary-general of defunct Eastern Lakes State Barnaba Mayor Deng said no one was wounded in the clashes caused by revenge attacks.
He said there was no suspect from both sides apprehended by the police for investigation, but the authorities were pursuing them.
"We have deployed security forces to follow the suspects who caused the fighting so that they are brought to book for investigations. Two houses were indeed burned down by angry youth who are cousins of those who have lost their relatives during the fighting,” said Mayor.
Following the incident, Lakes state governor Makur Kulang Liei visited the area on Saturday and met with chiefs from the warring communities.
Speaking to the media Kulang issued a gubernatorial order for the formation of peaceful disarmament subcommittees for Rumbek North, Rumbek Centre, Rumbek East, Cueibet, Wulu, and Aluakluak, and Mapuordit parts of Yirol West County.
He said he was baffled at what triggered the fighting after chiefs in the area reported that they had collected arms from civilians.
"The reason for traveling to Yirol East is to go and see for himself the cause of fighting and another reason is to go and talk about peaceful disarmament with the chiefs. I am going to ask them that you have reported that guns were collected, now where did these guns come from again if guns were collected?" said the governor.
Kulang pointed out that the main purpose of disarmament is to prevent deaths through guns and ensure the peaceful resolution of disputes and coexistence among the communities of Lakes State.
