At least four people including a woman were killed in an attack on Roum village in the north of Melut town in South Sudan’s Eastern Nile State on Saturday, a spokesperson for the state government said.
Jacob Lam Chan, Information Minister in Eastern Nile State, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that four people including a woman were killed in an attack on Roum village by Gen. Johnson Olony’s forces on Saturday night.
“What happened in Melut was around 12:00 on 8 September, the rebels of Johnson Olony crossed the river by boats and killed four people, one woman and three men in an area called Roum,”said Lam.
He pointed out that the government forces deployed in the area could apprehend the attackers. Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach SPLA-IO forces to comment on the matter.
