At least four displaced people including a woman were injured in shelling on Wau Shilluk area, which lies on the west bank territory of Upper Nile State following clashes between government forces and Aguelek fighters near Malakal town on Friday, a local NGO director said.
Philip Olam Nyawela, Executive Director of Peace and Development Organization in Wau Shilluk, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that about four civilians including a woman, two in critical condition, sustained injuries during shelling by a government force stationed near Malakal PoC, saying the wounded were taken to the hospital in the area for treatment.
“The SPLA in Malakal shelled a displacement camp in Wau Shilluk, so four civilians were injured, the situation is not stable, citizens are living in fear and panic, and they do not know what will happen,” said Nyawela.
For his part, Jacob Lam Chan, Information Minister of the proposed Eastern Nile State, claimed that the security situation was stable in Malakal town, saying the clashes between the government forces and the SPLA-IO faction concentrated on the west bank of the Nile.
