Four cattle traders killed in Tonj State

At least four traders were killed and 76 cattle looted in Aguka Payam of Tonj County in South Sudan’s Tonj State on Saturday night, a local official said.

County Commissioner Joseph Anei told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that eight cattle traders from Tonj en route to neighboring Gbudue state were attacked by unknown gunmen in Aguka payam.

Anei said four of the traders were killed on the spot, while four others escaped unhurt. But he noted that all their cattle were stolen.

“35 armed youths attacked eight traders and they killed four of them, while the others managed to escape and they are now fine," he added.

Anei said they sent troops to pursue the attackers.
