Authorities in Western Equatoria State capital Yambio say they arrested four people for theft and firearm possession Monday after rounding up people out past curfew.
County commissioner Hussein Enocka told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday said nineteen people were brought in Monday night, but only four were found to be suspected criminals.
He said two were suspected thieves and two were carrying bullets. The commissioner said the four would be released pending further investigations.
Separately, Enocka said he asked security forces patrolling the town at night not to fire their guns because peace has been signed and gunshots can cause panic.
The commissioner denied reports that a boda boda driver had been shot dead earlier this week though confirmed that security forces had recently opened fire with people around.
