The former Wau County Commissioner was detained in Western Equatoria after escaping from Western Bahr El Ghazal in fear of political reprisals connected with the county headquarters saga.
John Peter Miskin resigned last month from his position as Wau County Commissioner after protesters closed the Baggari road bringing the transfer of Wau County Headquarters into public debate.
Mr Meskin was under house arrest following an order from Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan to investigate his resignation.
State security advisor Rizik Dominic Samuel told Voice of Hope that the commissioner escaped to Western Equatoria after investigations established that he was delivering false information to the citizens leading to the chaos around the county headquarters transfer.
Mr Dominic held the commissioner responsible for the resistance by Wau citizens to the headquarters’ transfer.
He said the commissioner lied to the organizing committee and declined to implement the Government’s order transferring the County headquarters from Wau to Baggari.
Mr Dominic added that Mr Miskin is still in Yambio, but he will be brought to Wau to answer the allegations against him and explain why he escaped.
