Dau Akoi Jurkuch, the former commissioner of Twic Centre County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State has rejected re-appointment as commissioner for Bor North County barely a week after he was dismissed.

Last week, Akoi was fired but no reasons were given for his sacking.

“I am not a commissioner any more. I was sacked and re-appointed to serve in Bor North County. But I refused the new assignment because I served in commissionership for long. The other reason is that there are no health facilities in Bor North County. I have some health problems so I rejected the re-appointment,” Akoi told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday.

He pointed out that he would serve in any other position in the state government if appointed.

Jonglei state governor Philip Aguer also confirmed that Dau declined to accept his offer. He then appointed Deng Adoor as Bor North County commissioner.
