Matur Majok, the former Commissioner of Rumbek Center, has been detained for about three months for allegedly using his influence to protect murder suspects who are his relatives.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the wife of the detained official, Mary Ruol, said her husband was detained on 3 February without any charges.

“My husband has not been released since he was detained. There is no investigation into his case until now,” she said. “We are living in a bad condition and my children are suffering now. Who will help us and my husband is in detention?” said Mary.

She pointed out that he was detained with two other relatives accused of killing a citizen in Rumbek Center. She called upon the authorities to free her husband saying he has nothing to do with the murder case.
