Former official complains of rising crime rate in Torit

Jerman Charles, former commissioner of Torit County in South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria State has expressed concern about increasing crime rates including killings and looting in the state.

Jerman told Radio Tamazuj that the security situation in the area is deteriorating, saying a woman was killed in Loloro area over the past three days, besides the killing of one person while heading to his farm.

The former official also pointed to frequent attacks by gunmen affiliated to opposition groups in the area.
