The Northern Bahr al Ghazal state government has denied claims that former state minister of finance Ayii Bol has been arrested while confirming that he is under investigation.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, State Information Minister Angelo Akech denied reports that the former minister of finance was arrested over financial scandal in the state.

Akech said what is going is an investigation into accusations of corruption and misappropriation of public funds. The state official further said the investigation aimed to know expenditures of the Ministry of Education. However, he didn’t give further details about the alleged misappropriated funds by the former government official.

“The former state minister of finance is under investigation,” he said. “Legal bodies want to “know some of the misappropriated funds from the ministry of education," he added.
