Former commissioner of Twic County arrested: wife

The former commissioner of Twic County has been arrested, his wife told Radio Tamazuj on Friday, after he allegedly incited local youth to disrupt the state governor's meeting in Wunrock County last month.

Government officials were unavailable for comment.

In July, the governor of Twic State Kon Manyiel Kuol announced a plan to visit all six counties of the state.

Biar Biar, former commissioner of Twic County, was arrested by security officials for allegedly inciting a group of youth to disrupt the state governor’s meeting.

According to his wife, the governor’s meeting was disrupted by some youth who had differences over their own leadership in Wunrock County but accused the governor of taking side.

“The misunderstanding has resulted into violent confrontation among the youths during the meeting with the governor and the angry youths exchanged fire with the security guards of the governor, so some youth were taken into police custody,” he said.

The wife said that her husband was detained together with some youth in Turalei before being referred to Mayen Abun Prison on Tuesday last week.

She urged the state government to take her husband to court or release him.
