Makur Kueideer Reec, an executive chief in Rumbek, died after he was knocked down by a truck near Rumbek Roundabout on Saturday.

Lino Thon Machol, the deputy director of traffic police in Rumbek town, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident was arrested.

“The fatal car accident took place when the vehicle collided with a motorcycle carrying the executive chief who was on the main road to the airport,” he said.

“I went to the scene of the car accident and checked the vehicle. I found that there was no brake control,” he added.

He says investigations into the deadly accident are underway.

For his part, the deceased’s relative Marial Longjok Makec Mangok confirmed that the driver who knocked down the executive chief was arrested.

“I can confirm that the culprit who knocked down the executive chief Makur Kueideer was arrested by the police immediately after the accident occurred,” Marial said.

“We are going to give the government a chance to find out the exact cause of the car accident,” he added.
