The undersecretary at the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation in South Sudan has contested the manner in which he was suspended, saying he did not do anything wrong to warrant the decision of the minister.

“There is nothing wrong I did and I do not remember where I failed to do my work”; said Ayok when asked to say what he did that prompted the minister to suspend him from his position.

He said he was not aware of a particular instant where he failed to perform his duties, as the undersecretary of the ministry, including acting on the directives of the minister.

He was reacting to a question asking the authenticity of   a December 20 letter in which foreign affairs minister Deng Alor Kuol accused him of disrespectful to him and his office.

“I do here issue this suspension order for the suspension of Ambassador Reverend Joseph Ayok Anei for disregard of my orders on a number of occasions and refusal, ignorance and failure to obey and comply with the laws governing ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation,” the letter reads.

The letter did not cite a particular incident in which the office of the minister has been undermined or a particular day where his directives were not acted upon.
