Food rations delayed for Blue Nile refugees in Ethiopia

Blue Nile refugees living in Bambasi Camp in Ethiopia are grumbling about delayed food distribution by humanitarian authorities, saying they now suffer from a lack of food and other basic services.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, several Sudanese refugees complained of a shortage of food rations this month besides building materials for renovation of their houses.

They claim the UN refugee organization had promised that it will provide building materials for their houses which are about to collapse owing to heavy rains.

A refugee also reiterated that the refugees are living in poor conditions, saying some humanitarian officials had hinted that building materials would be only given to those who are helpless and destitute.

“All the refugees are living in dilapidated houses, while rains are intensifying , which makes  the humanitarian situation unbearable in the camp,” she emphasized.
