The citizens of Kaduguli have complained of rising in food prices. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, multiple sources said the town market is witnessing ‘skyrocketing’ food prices.
The price of one malwa of maize has shifted from 8 to 12 pounds, and wheat malwa to 11 pounds, while rotol of oil rose from 5 to 7 pounds, kilogram of sugar reached 7 pounds, and the price of one kilo of meat reached 30 pounds, and a kilo of chicken is 40 pounds.
Traders attributed the high prices to high taxation of goods, insecurity and failure in the agricultural schemes this year.
On the other hand, food prices have dropped in Northern Bahr al-Ghazal due to illegal importation of goods via South Kordofan.
