Twic East residents will receive food drops from the World Food Program before the end of the week, according to county authorities.
The area has suffered heavy rains over the past six months and has been cut off from most humanitarian access. Officials said at least 130,000 people are not getting enough to eat.
Panyagor Commissioner Dan Akoi Jurkich said the new supplies are critical.
“We are now working around the airport trying to do some small cleaning in order to receive our food in a safer condition,” he said. Authorities said they do not know how much food to expect, but they are hoping for several tonnes.
WFP authorities could not confirm how much food was being delivered or even whether the air drop was taking place.
