Citizens in Wau town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal State are complaining about soaring prices of flour in the town.

Mohammed Issa, a trader in Wau, told Radio Tamazuj that there were no goods from Sudan that reached Wau since last week. He added that the traders had been bringing goods from common markets on the border between Meiram and Aweil, using small trucks.

“A sack of flour has boosted from 650 SSP to 750 SSP at the market on Sunday in Wau town,” he said. The trader attributed the soaring prices of flour to restriction on traders by Sudanese authorities along the West Kordofan-Northern Bahr el Ghazal borders.
