Flour shortage leading to high prices in Babanusa

Citizens in Babanusa, West Kordofan, are complaining about the shortage of flour in the town caused by its soaring prices. They say this is also leading to high prices of bread in local bakeries.

Traders speaking to Radio Tamazuj said the price of a bag of flour boosted from SDG130 to SDG170.

A loaf of bread for SDG1, which used to weight 2 ounces, now weights 1,5 ounce, they said.

Babanusa residents warned about imminent food insecurity if the economic situation remains as such.
