Flour shortage hits Sudan’s White Nile state

Citizens of Sudan’s White Nile State have complained of a shortage of wheat flour, saying the prices have also skyrocketed in the market.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, several traders said that a sack of wheat flour has risen from 130 SDG to 180 SDG, warning that the prices of bread will go up in the coming days.

The traders accused the state governor Abdul-Hamid Musa Kasha of giving the state flour ratio to Al-Wasila Abdul-Malik, a political party leader, instead of distributing it to the traders.

They said that the move is aimed at creating a monopoly and dominance in the market, terming it as “corruption.”
