At least three people were killed by floods in the greater Pochalla area of South Sudan’s Boma State.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, John Abulla, the state deputy state governor, said the deceased were swept away by waters in parts of greater Pochalla in separate incidents since last week.
“One person was swept away by speedy floodwaters in Pochalla Centre while the rest in Awetaballa county,” he said.
The official also pointed out that the locals in the area are without food, water, and medicines as floods destroy homes and livelihoods.
Meanwhile, David Okwer, a lawmaker from Boma State in the national assembly also confirmed the demise of the three locals.
The officials appealed for humanitarian intervention as the state is cut off from the rest of the country.
