Heavy rains and floods have reportedly cut off major towns in Sudan’s Al Gazira and Al Gadarif States from the central part of the country.
Ashrooq TV reported that the Madani-Gadarif road was affected by rains, while Khasm Al Girba, Halfa Al Jadida and Kassala towns were also cut off from Al Gadarif State.
The Gadarif-Doka-Galabat road to neighbouring Ethiopia was also halted, according to the Khartoum-based media.
Separately, multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that over 1,000 families were also affected by heavy rains and floods in En Nahud town in West Kordofan State last month.
Reportedly, the flood-stricken families refused to receive aid assistance provided by Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission.
A source said the commission had distributed small quantities of lentils and some shelters to the affected families, but they turned down the assistance complaining that it was inadequate compared to huge losses inured due to the floods.
