Flooding halts rail service in Western Sudan

Trains have been suspended in Babanusa town of Sudan’s West Kordofan state for more than a week due to heavy flooding caused by rising water in Khor Abu Habel, according to multiple sources from the railway service in Babanusa town.

The sources said the flooding has flooded the rail line in Jebel Daruth station.

Meanwhile, several workers in the railway service said working is continued to fix the drift of the rail line.

A source who preferred not to be named told Radio Tamazuj the train which take passengers from Khartoum to Nyala and vice versa still stranded in Abu Zabad due to the drift of the rail line in Jebel Daruth.

He added that passengers are facing shortages of food and water for days now.
