About 500 families in Bor North County of Jonglei State are in dire need of humanitarian assistance after heavy rains hit the area in June, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, Bor North County Commissioner, Deng Adoor Jwach said many flood victims have sheltered in relatives' houses and schools without humanitarian assistance for weeks.
“There were floods caused by heavy rains at the end of June. We registered about 500 families whose homes in Majok-Kuol, Jalle and Kolmerek areas were destroyed. Those families now live in schools, churches and some with their relatives,” Adoor explained.
He said farmlands are submerged in floodwater. Adoor appealed to aid agencies in Jonglei State to intervene and provide shelter.
