A member of parliament in South Sudan’s Eastern Lakes State said Sunday that hundreds of people who were affected by floods last month are still living without assistance.
Marial Amuom said in an interview with Radio Tamazuj that the flood-stricken people were experiencing harsh humanitarian conditions due to shortages of food, medicines, and shelter.
He pointed out that the closure of roads to Rumbek town makes it difficult for humanitarian agencies to reach the flood-stricken families in the affected area.
Marial revealed that the Episcopal Church provided some humanitarian assistance to the displaced people. The lawmaker called upon relief agencies to deliver aid assistance to the needy people as soon as possible.
